Alster International Shipping Services, Inc. (AISSI) is existing as a duly registered company with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) since 25 May 1988 and was officially issued a License to Operate as a Manning Agency by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) on 28 August 1988. Crew Management

Our strength is the sincerity of our commitment to provide valuable services to our clients. Our crew management system ensures that seafarers provided to our principals are fit for the requirements and contingent to face the challenges of their working reality.

Allotment

The accounting department handles the generation of monthly allotment and special allotments. They are also responsible for handling of principals’ accounts, tax tonnage reporting, social benefits, master’s cash account control, and monthly disbursement accounts.

Family Center

We constantly strive to perform better each day not only by employing competencies to our seafarers but also protect their interests and their families.

Pre-Board Accommodation

With out state of the art facilities and equipment, we are sure to accommodate every seafarers needs.

Training

To achieve work quality and peak performance, you need new technologies driven by highly trained seafarers. At Alster, we believe that how you deploy, manage, and develop your resources determines whether you get there first or play “catch-up.”

Travel Arrangement

Through our travel agents as our business partners, our communication personnel handle the seafarers’ travel arrangements. Its main functions are travel arrangements for joining and disembarking seafarers, coordinating with agents abroad, Monitoring immigration, custom and health authorities requirements, follow up and assistance to en route seafarers.

On-line Recruitment

Our on-line recruitment system was developed as innovative hiring solutions customized to meet our hiring needs. Job seekers can use our on-line job search and on-line job application.

Documentation

Our fully computerized system avoid the risk of inappropriate or inadequate crew documents delaying your vessels in ports. Alster ensures all required documents, trainings, and certificates are properly assessed and complied by all crew-members.

Crew Planning

Our system matches seafarers who are available to vessels they previously worked on, and you benefit from re-employing crews experienced in managing your vessels, know your procedures, and your policies.

Training
REAL WORLD TRAINING FOR REAL-WORLD RESULTS

VOYAGE PLANNING

Monitoring progress and comparing it to the plan are key to voyage planning.

OBJECTIVES:

Seafarers who completed this course will be able to:
  1. Determine the factors and requirements for the preparation of passage plan.
  2. Develop, evaluate and approve the passage plan using the forms and other related publications.
  3. Implement passage plan in a simulated scenario and perform actions in accordance to the procedures on the SMS in compliance to ISM.

Control Engineering

This course is intended to provide marine engineers and ratings forming part of an engine watch about the knowledge and competence required by AISSI in accordance to the requirements of its principals.

OBJECTIVES:

Seafarers who completed this course will be able to:
  1. Demonstrate the working principle and concept of control engineering.
  2. Knowledge, understanding and proficiency on application, installation, and construction of control engineering aboard ships.
  3. Determine and familiarize with the basic approach in troubleshooting common equipment breakdown and simulated hands-on practice.

Hydraulics/Pneumatic

This course is intended to provide marine engineers and ratings forming a part of an engineering watch about the knowledge and competence required by AISSI in accordance with the quality and safety management systems of its principals on the aspect of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

OBJECTIVES:

Seafarers who completed this course will be able to:
  1. Contribute to the safe working practices and occupational hazards during the course of laboratory exercises.
  2. Have adequate knowledge of application, installation and construction of pneumatics and hydraulics systems aboard the ship.
  3. Interpret circuit diagrams and work in conjunction with engineering drawings.

    Ship Security Awareness

    All personnel assigned to specific duties in accordance with the security plan and to all personnel involved in securing the vessels in compliance to the requirements of chapter XI-2 of SOLAS 74 as amended and the ISPS code.

    OBJECTIVES:

    Seafarers who completed this course should be able to undertake duties and responsibilities of ship security personnel according to section A/13 of the ISPS code by the following course objectives:
    1. Introduce techniques and skills required to address qualifications of ship security personnel.
    2. Provide general concept of ISPS code and relevant legislation, security threats and patterns with consideration of people who likely to threaten security.
    3. Provide awareness on detection of weapons, dangerous substances and devices.
    4. Ability to undertake security related communications, emergency procedures and contingency planning.

      Computer Based Training

      Our computer-based training courses provide engaging, interactive features that enhance our crew learning experience.

      OBJECTIVES:

      Seafarers who completed this course will be able to:
      1. Gain knowledge and understanding with a training as a reinforcement to the specific topic indicated weak on the evaluation report after taking the CES Test.
      2. Determine if the seafarer after being reinforced with the training, should be recommended for further or other modes or specific training on the weak points.

        Tanker Safety and Vetting

        COURSE DESCRIPTION

        OBJECTIVES:

        Seafarers who completed this course will be able to:
        1. Define the principles of ship vetting inspection process in relation to the requirements of the ISM code.
        2. Identify the applicable IMO and maritime legislations.
        3. Understand the principles of system auditing, adopt and implement techniques and strategies of inspection.
        4. Carry out a table top simulation exercise using relevant forms and document.

          Computer Troubleshooting

          This course is intended to provide deck officers and Marine Engineers the basic knowledge of computer troubleshooting, perform practical troubleshooting and analysis of computer problems and gain practical experience of handling the hardware and software systems of a computer.

          OBJECTIVES:

          1. To gain basic troubleshooting skills and preventive maintenance for optimal computer performance.
          2. To identify hardware components and their basic function.
          3. Gain the necessary knowledge to successfully assemble and disassemble a computer.

            Basic Safety Familiarization

            Our basic safety training – familiarization, prevent, control and fight fires on board, operate life saving appliances, apply medical first aid on board ship and personal safety and social responsibility.

            OBJECTIVES:

            Seafarers who completed this course will be able to:

            Maritime Electro-Technology

            Skilled personnel help increase the availability, rate, and quality of your vessels and boost overall equipment effectiveness.

            OBJECTIVES:

            Seafarers who completed this course will be able to demonstrate the working principle of electrical technology through practical exercises.
            The knowledge shall include but not limited to:
            1. The awareness of safe working practices and occupational hazards prior and during the course of laboratory exercises.
            2. Application, installation and troubleshooting of electrical tools and equipment aboard ships.
            3. Interpret circuit diagrams and work in conjunction with engineering drawings.

              Basic Computer Familiarization

              This course is designed to improve understanding of how computers work and familiarize with basic computer applications.

              OBJECTIVES:

              Seafarers who completed this course will be able to:
              1. Create documents, spreadsheets, and other files necessary for on board recording and reporting activities.
              2. Be capable of optimizing the use of computers by creating their own spreadsheet formats as efficient alternative to manual systems.

                International Safety Management

                We provide A framework for the proper development, implementation and assessment of safety and pollution prevention management in accordance with good practice.

                OBJECTIVES:

                Seafarers who completed this course will be able to define the ISM code and will be able to define the ISM Code and discuss the basic theories and practical requirements for the proper implementation, monitoring, analysis and evaluation of the Safety Management Systems (SMS).
                Emphasis of the course will be on the functional requirements of the ISM code and how seafarers would get into the system of compliance by the performance of their tasks on board ship.

                Global Maritime Distress and Safety System

                We believe that hands-on training with real world examples is the key to learning and retention.
